With all of the joy of the Jesus and Brian conference held at King's College London this weekend past, we weren't expecting yet more delights quite so soon. But here's something almost to spite us, a fantastic review of the T&T Clark Companion to Nonconformity, edited by Robert Pope.
Reviewer Mary Barnes has commented about the book:
"This weighty tome commands respect, not least for its sheer size but also for the breadth of vision which has brought it to life."
The editorial work, while acknowledged, is not the only thing Barnes admires about this work. She comments also on the writing of the various specialists who have contributed: 'these specialists have written eruditely and lucidly.'
One of the final comments in the review is regarding the price: 'This book is not cheap but nor is it over-priced at £100. Rather its 751 pages represent a sound investment for all those interested in the history, theology and practice of English and Welsh Nonconformity.'
