Today Anna and I will be putting our best feet forward and braving the national rail network to take us to the Summer SOTS conference in Sheffield. SOTS is continually one of my favourite conferences to attend. It's a nice length, the papers are varied, it's a small enough group of people for it to be friendly, but large enough not to be claustraphobic, and people are always interested in the books too.
This year, we have a few exciting things at SOTS which technically aren't yet published. We'll have Eryl Davies' book 'The Immoral Bible' on Ethics in the Hebrew Bible - particularly focusing on the problems with the notion of 'Holy War' as depicted in Joshua.
We'll also have John Day's new edited collection on Prophecy, which is the result of the Oxford Old Testament Seminar (like Temple and Worship in Biblical Israel was). As always there is a stellar list of contributors. So let's hope the book does well.
