Last year we published David Grumett's very fine book on Henri de Lubac which started the series of our Guides for the Perplexed in theology. More books are to follow this year, the next one being Agneta Sutton's Christian Bioethics. We had a lot of fun commissioning more titles, both on key thinkers in theology as well as on key concepts. Here is a list of forthcoming Guides for the Perplexed:
Balthasar
Barth
Bonhoeffer
Bultmann
Calvin
Luther
Newman
Origen
Pannenberg
Paul
Rahner
Schleiermacher
Tillich
Wesley
Christology
Christian Ethics
Eschatology in the Bible
Eucharist
Historical Jesus
Martyrdom
Political Theology
Science & Religion
The Trinity
The Church
Are there any subjects missing here? What do you find perplexing and which issues would you like to see covered? Let us know what you think - or even if you'd like to submit a proposal for the series! We are looking forward to hearing from you!
Historical-critical method: is it "discredited" or not or what? I'm perplexed.

It would be helpful to have one for Hegel. I would definitely consider him to be very perplexing

Nevermind - I just saw on Amazon that one is already out. Thanks!

Hi JB,
Yes, the Guides have been going on our philosophy list for a while - with huge success. So Hegel was commissioned by my colleague from philosophy. She also commissioned books on Augustine, Aquinas and Kierkegaard which caused quite a bit of gnashing of teeth on my end ...
Cheers

I'd add my votes for Maximus (with Ian McFarland writing it) and Rowan Williams (Mike Hington)
what about classic figures like Augustine or Aquinas?

Hi Joshua,
we are definitely going to one on Rowan Williams, author to be decided.
Augustine and Aquinas have been commissioned by my colleague from philosophy and we do not want to overlap too much.
