Historical-critical method: is it "discredited" or not or what? I'm perplexed.

JB

It would be helpful to have one for Hegel. I would definitely consider him to be very perplexing

JB

Nevermind - I just saw on Amazon that one is already out. Thanks!

Tom

Hi JB,

Yes, the Guides have been going on our philosophy list for a while - with huge success. So Hegel was commissioned by my colleague from philosophy. She also commissioned books on Augustine, Aquinas and Kierkegaard which caused quite a bit of gnashing of teeth on my end ...

Cheers
Tom

How about

- Rowan Williams: A Guide for the Perplexed
- Benedict XVI: A Guide for the Perplexed

???

Ben Myers

This looks great! Some other possibilities might be:

* Secularism
* Eastern Orthodoxy
* Predestination
* Natural theology
* Dogmatics
* Narrative theology
* Scripture
* Resurrection
* Rowan Williams
* Milbank
* Hauerwas

Ben Myers

Oh, and one more:

* Heresy

Philip McCosker

How about:

Mystery

Apophaticism

(and/or) Mystical theology

Holy Spirit

Hell

Heaven

Creation

Bonaventure

Meister Eckhart

Nicholas of Cusa

Maximus the Confessor

Gregory of Nyssa

sorry...getting a bit carried away!

joshua

I'd add my votes for Maximus (with Ian McFarland writing it) and Rowan Williams (Mike Hington)

what about classic figures like Augustine or Aquinas?

Tom

Hi Joshua,

we are definitely going to one on Rowan Williams, author to be decided.

Augustine and Aquinas have been commissioned by my colleague from philosophy and we do not want to overlap too much.
